Loro Parque Fundación increased the budget for environmental projects in 2011 to 880.000€

More than 10.000.000 Dollars have been invested by Loro Parque Fundación in 85 projects around the world

Loro Parque increased to 880.000€ the budget for research and achievement of environmental programms in 20 countries worldwide. This represents an increase of over 30.000€, compared with the amount from 2010, and also a big commitment from Loro Parque and its sponsors, given the current difficult economic and financial situation. This decision will have a positive impact on the implementation of 31 conservations projects worldwide. In particular conservation projects of parrots and whales and the development of educational and research activities. To determine this budget and the individuals lots, various experts, international consultant for the conservation of animals and the auspices of Loro Parque Fundación, have analyzed in detail the focus of the presented projects, as well as valued the results of some projects, started in the past year, to renew operations. Very important is the achieved success of 1214 chicks of 160 parrot species and subspecies. Among the main proposals, in addition to the conservation of endangered parrot species and their habitats, there are two Whale-research projects: one is dedicated to the migration of whales in the area of the Iberian Peninsula, and the other to the research of the health of dolphins in the Canary Islands. Further, the Immunology and Bio-Acustics of whales, will be also researched wit the collaboration of the Universities of La Laguna and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. To conclude, it should be noted, that 100% of the operating costs of the Foundation are assumed by Loro Parque, and together with the important economic contribution of the sponsors, is the development of these environmental protection projects possible. The companies that support these initiatives are: Kalise, Versele-Laga, Banca March, Embotelladora de Canarias, World of TUI, Banco Santander, Abaxis, Cepsa, Compañía Cervecera de Canarias, Endesa, Redisa, Fonteide, Encanto, Cash & Carry, Fuente Alta and many more.
