Proposals for next year can be submitted until the 31st of July through the Foundation’s official website.

The Loro Parque Foundation has opened the submission period for its 2026 project funding call. Applications can be submitted until July 31st through its official website.

Submitted projects will be evaluated by a committee of experts and must be aligned with the objectives of species conservation and animal welfare. The Foundation pays special attention to initiatives focused on parrots and marine animals, particularly endangered species, as well as proposals that promote both terrestrial and marine biodiversity.

As part of its environmental commitment, the Loro Parque Fundación will also positively value collaboration with organisations or individuals that can demonstrate adequate waste management during fieldwork phases.

With more than 300 launched projects and an investment exceeding $29 million, the Loro Parque Foundation has established itself as one of the world’s most effective organizations for species conservation. Thanks to its work, 12 parrot species have been saved from extinction, including emblematic cases such as the Lear’s macaw, whose global population was just 22 in 1999, and the yellow-eared parrot, with only 82 that same year.

The Foundation receives hundreds of research and conservation proposals every year, which are rigorously analysed by a panel of scientists. The selection is made according to established scientific criteria and using the IUCN Red List as a reference, which classifies species according to their level of threat in nine categories, from ‘Least Concern’ to ‘Extinct’.

“Every year we receive extraordinary proposals from all corners of the globe, demonstrating that the commitment to conservation is global,’ explains Javier Almunia, director of the Loro Parque Foundation. ‘Through this call for proposals, we not only provide financial support to valuable projects, but also create a network of scientific collaboration that multiplies the impact of our actions in the field.’ With this call for proposals, Loro Parque Fundación seeks to continue uniting global efforts to increase the populations of endangered species and reduce their presence on the Red List.

Those interested in participating should complete and submit the form available at the following link before 31 July: https://www.loroparque-fundacion.org/en/conservation-projects/#propuestas
