Thanks to LPF’s conservation efforts, the Blue-headed Macaw has been saved from extinction. Although their populations are currently fragmented, their numbers are increasing, which gives even more hope to this parakeet.
Blue-headed Macaw
Peru, Brazil, and Bolivia are home to the rare blue-headed macaw, a species whose local populations are never particularly large. However, its global numbers are gradually increasing, and its conservation status has been improved from Endangered to Vulnerable.

Loro Parque Fundación has supported field research on this species, enabling the development of distribution maps that identify areas where the macaw may be more or less abundant at different times. Accurate population estimates are essential for its conservation, and while the improved Red List status is encouraging, it does not guarantee the species’ survival in all parts of its range.
